Presentation: Finite Element Exterior Calculus applied to the Maxwell equations

On the 7th of July the PhD student Daniel Bach (University of Cologne) of the SNuBIC research unit gave an introductory talk about the Finite Element Exterior Calculus applied to the Maxwell equations, which will be used in the B1 project. This class of Finite Element method is used to ensure the exact preservation of properties of the analytical solution to the Maxwell equations in the discrete approximation, like the vanishing divergence of the magnetic field. The preservation of these properties in the discrete solution is important to ensure the accurate simulation of plasmas, which is the goal of several SNuBIC projects.
