Structure Preservation
Structure-preservation will be a guiding principle for the various project of the research unit.
Several physical processes that will be considered in coupled multi-physics simulations are flows given by fluid dynamics and the evolution of electro-magnetic fields in electrodynamics. Additional aspects will be the effects of multi-component mixtures of fluids and the motion of suspended micro-particles. Many other challenging processes are not considered, multi-phase flow, for instance, will be investigated in the second phase of this research unit.
Each structural element of the mathematical model implies a preservation aspect of the numerical scheme and its discretization.
